City working to enhance security at parks, facilities

September 12 2025

AUBURN, Ala.- The City of Auburn Parks and Recreation Department is actively collaborating with the Auburn Police Department to continue enhancing security features and capabilities in multiple city parks and facilities. While several of our park locations are passive in nature, the City is working to develop solutions that complement the environment while providing increased security.

In the near future, citizens may see additional equipment deployed for this purpose.

“While it’s not possible to completely cover every area of all of our park properties with video surveillance, personnel and technology, we are always committed to finding ways to improve safety and security throughout Auburn,” said Public Safety Director Will Mathews. “I’d like to remind everyone that our best protection continues to be the eyes and ears, keen observations and willingness to report suspicious activity by our friends and neighbors.”

The Auburn Police Department encourages anyone that observes suspicious behavior or incidents to call 911 or the non-emergency number, 334-501-3100, to provide that information.
